Das Kinderdorf Pestalozzi ist als Schweizer Antwort auf den Schrecken des Zweiten Weltkrieges entstanden. Kriegswaisen aus ganz Europa kamen nach Trogen, um im idyllischen Appenzell das friedliche Zusammenleben zu lernen. Frieden durch Völkerverständigung ist das wichtigste Ziel und Bildung im Sinne Johann Heinrich Pestalozzis unser Schlüssel dazu. Die Vision ist geblieben, die Arbeitsweise wurde weiterentwickelt. Seit 1982 engagiert sich die Stiftung Kinderdorf Pestalozzi als gemeinnützige Schweizer Bildungsorganisation weltweit in der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit.
The Pestalozzi Children's Village was created in response to the horrors of World War II. War orphans from all over Europe came to Trogen in the idyllic canton Appenzell to learn how to live together peacefully. Our overriding goal is peaceful cohabitation by way of international understanding, and education in the spirit of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi is our key to achieve it. Our initial vision was maintained, but our working methods have changed over time. Since 1982, the Pestalozzi Children's Foundation has been working in development cooperation as a Swiss non-profit organisation focusing on education.

| emPower: Interkulturelle Ausbildung für junge Erwachsene/ Intercultural training programme for young adults. | 20 junge Erwachsene aus unseren Partnerorganisationen erhalten in der Schweiz eine interkulturelle Ausbildung und setzen in ihrer Heimat die erworbenen Kompetenzen praktisch um. Every year up to 20 young professionals engaged in PCF partner organisations in the programme countries are selected to participate in the training programme emPower. On their return home, they will assist their organisations through contributing to the management of sustainable development programmes. |
